DOUGLAS J. PATERSON
DDS, MD, FRCD(C), DIP. OS AND ANESTHESIA

Dr Paterson received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) finishing first in his class and immediately went on to complete residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery both at the University of Toronto, receiving his Diploma in Oral Surgery and Anesthesia. While in his residency at the Toronto General Hospital, he enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Toronto and completed his M.D. two years post residency graduating with Honours along with 11 fellow students in a class of 225. Thereafter he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (by examination) and a Fellow of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr Paterson has extensive experience in corrective jaw surgery, dental implant placement, bone graft reconstruction and facial trauma. He served as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Detroit for 7 years and lectured extensively in Physical Assessment and Management to the undergraduate and postgraduate student body. Dr Paterson served for many years as an Examiner in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (the National Specialty Certification Examination) and briefly as Chief Examiner for the Specialty Examination.
Dr Paterson is a staff member of Windsor Regional Hospital where he served as Department Chief of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry for 25 years and chaired the Operating Room Committee for 8 years overseeing all aspects of operating room management. He also is on the Active surgical staff of Erie Shores Health Care. He maintains private practices in Windsor and Leamington, Ontario. His current interests are complex exodontia, anesthesia and sedation modalities, dental implant surgery and bone graft reconstruction, surgery for children and surgery for medically compromised individuals.
